Centennial Celebration for the High Point Furniture Market Let the festivities begin! The IHFC (International Home Furnishing Center) it`s celebrating it`s 100th Anniversary in High Point, North Carolina. Twice a year during spring and autumn 100,000 interior designers along with home furnishing retailers, manufactures, suppliers and industry analysts assemble together representing 110 countries, to the furniture capital of the world. You may ask the question, why is this so important? This incredible furniture market shows off 2000 exhibitors launching over 300 categories of new products. Its 188 buildings make up 12 million square feet of showroom space, so get those roller skates on... You might ask, what does this have to do with me? If your passionate about home furnishings, everything! This is where furniture people and designers step away from their daily pressures to meet and experience the newest ideas in home furnishing and connect to the hottest home trends. It has often been said "If you can`t find it at the High Point Market, it probably doesn`t exist". For the consumer looking for innovative ideas for home and business use but also needing creative solutions for upcoming projects, this is the place where the brain-storming and vision begins. So now you ask, what are the hot new furniture trends? What is the new forecast for color in the design business now? Where is the furniture industry going? These are some of the major style trends to look for in furniture and design over the next year. Getting back to nature is an ongoing indicator by "going green" and using all natural materials along with recycled resources. Contemporary will show influences of the artistry of Asian design using rich finishes and eye-catching hardware that will be noticed on furniture pieces. The 1920`s art deco period is alive again with glittering accents and attractive architectural shapes. Traditional being the most timeless style has a new face by having a more modernized feel combined with contemporary touches and eclectic combinations. Most importantly, the transitional look continues to be a front runner with its classic furniture forms and pleasing palette. The Pantone Color Institute, who has been a leader in directing our color forecast for furniture and fashion design, has Mimosa (pantone #14-0848) as the color of the year. Pantone`s quote on this color: "Mimosa Embodies Hopefulness and Reassurance in a Climate of change". This surely pin points our economy and its optimistic future. You will see rich gold's and yellows along with colors that are bright and happy using hot pink, orange and blue that elevates the mood. As for the neutrals they can range from cream, buff and stone to an ash gray tone with a hint of lilac. We will also see a return back to black as an impressive classic trend. Consumers are still nesting in their homes and wanting comfort for their everyday lifestyle. Function is big, it just can`t be decorative, pieces needs to do something to relate to their lifestyle. Freshness and impact is essential along with uniqueness and a magical design. J. Hettinger Interiors is also ahead of their time when it comes to helping you with any of your residential or commercial projects. No matter what the job size is, we will make that magic happen for you too. Just relax and let the designers at J.
