I have always had an interest in architecture and interiors. I love to see how history, culture and lifestyle influence design. To me, design is a form of living art. An artist must convey emotions and ideas through the use of color, texture, scale and balance. In Interior Design, these same elements must also come “alive” by becoming tangible and functional; not only does a space need to look good, but more importantly, it needs to feel good. Regardless of the style, a good design always starts with |
understanding how a client lives and works in their home or office. This influences every design decision down to the smallest detail. With this idea as the foundation, every element of the design becomes harmonious within the space. A visitor should be able to enter the completed space and get a sense of the owner’s personality and what is important to them. The space should become an expression of the people who inhabit it. I am a proud graduate of California State University, Sacramento and its FIDER/NASAD accredited Interior Design program, and I was fortunate to study European Art and Architectural history in Venice and Tuscany as well. Though I constantly draw from my education and travels for inspiration, the most important part of any project is to focus on the needs of the client, to listen and understand their desires and be able to successfully translate them into a space that is both beautiful and practical. |
